What's Changing?

The CBE will be expanding yellow bus service and adjusting walk zones for the upcoming school year. This is in response to Alberta Education’s School Transportation Amendment Regulation for student transportation that comes into effect on Sept. 1, 2025.

Bell Times

Aligning bell times across schools makes transportation more efficient, allowing each bus to run multiple routes. This creates a reliable transportation system, allowing students to get to school safely, on time and ready to learn.

Transportation Eligibility and Walk Zones

Transportation eligibility distance and how it is calculated is changing and will now be measured by driving distance instead of walking distance. That means next year, more students will become eligible to take the bus and school walk zones will look different. 

To find our school’s walk zone map, visit CBE’s Find a School Tool and follow these instructions:  

  • Type in your home address or search by school in the drop-down menu
  • Choose your program under Program Options
  • Click on the grade(s)
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page under “Programs” to click on the program link for the school.  
    • This will display the walk zone for our school / program (note: only one walk zone can be displayed at a time)
    • Click a school name to see any updates, including lottery information, designation notices, or other changes

Transportation Registration is Now Open

Families are now able to register for school bus service for the 2025-2026 school year.

Registration is available using your MyCBE account. (If you do not already have an account, learn how to create one.)

Families must register by Sunday, June 22, 2025 for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year.

We continue to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing bus stop with available space. Processing times for registrations submitted after the June 22 deadline will be delayed. Confirmed routes are posted in late August. For those who register after the June 22 deadline, it may take until mid-October before your child is able to ride the bus.

Transportation can be cancelled with no financial impact by submitting the cancellation form by Sept. 30, 2025.

2025-2026 Transportation Service Levels & Proposed Fees

The proposed fees for transportation service for the 2025-2026 school year are as follows:

  • $360/year for those students designated to yellow school bus transportation
  • $180/year for one-way kindergarten transportation
  • No fee for students attending specialized classes who are designated to specialized transportation
  • All high school students and many others in Grades 6-9 are designated to Calgary Transit. Learn more about Calgary Transit services and fees on our website.
