School Council

Meetings are typically scheduled for the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30; however, please refer to the calendar for confirmation, as some months are not be scheduled

One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the Education Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory and decision-making authority defined within the Education Act and the School Councils Regulation. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school. You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook.

About Our School Council

We welcome and encourage all parents and caregivers to get involved in School Council. Our meetings are a great place to hear from the school administration, ask questions, share ideas, and get involved.

Our first meeting will be in person at David Thompson School. The following meetings will be held virtually. You will get the link to join each meeting by email a few days in advance. Check the Resources section for agendas and minutes.
