Weekly Update – Thursday September 18 | Message de la semaine – jeudi 18 septembre

I just wish people would realize that anything's possible if you try; dreams are made possible if you try.... Terry Fox

David Thompson Newsletters are always available on our website!

Hello Tiger Families!

It’s been a wonderful week of learning and connection here at David Thompson. A heartfelt thank you to all the parents who joined us for School Council, and to everyone who contributed to the success of our Terry Fox Run. It was inspiring to see our students walking, running, and encouraging one another in the spirit of perseverance and community.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to welcome families for our upcoming Meet-the-Teacher evening. We are also preparing to recognize Orange Shirt Day as part of our ongoing commitment to walking together as a school community for truth and reconciliation.

A special shout-out goes to all our student-athletes who’ve joined teams this fall. Coaches have begun sharing game and practice schedules so please check backpacks or email the coach if you are missing this communication. We remind all team members that representing DT means showing Tiger Pride everywhere: on the field, on the sidelines, and in our school hallways.

You’ll find upcoming game dates listed just below the important dates section. We hope to see many of you cheering from the sidelines!

Warmly,

The David Thompson School Team

Friday will be a full homeroom day, which includes the Terry Fox assembly and run. Remind students about wearing their class color and practicing their cheer!

David Thompson School is officially registered for the 2025 Terry Fox School Run, scheduled for September 19th.  We will continue to recognize Terry Fox and his Marathon of Hope and will have Our Terry Fox run on Friday, September 19th. This event supports vital cancer research while also building incredible school spirit for our students. They can also bring donations to their homeroom teacher all week in support of the Toonies for Terry campaign. This year marks the 45th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope, and we’re thrilled to have your school join nearly 10,000 schools nationwide in celebrating his legacy. Dungeons and Dragons club starts up again this week. Students will meet in the art room on Thursday right after school and club ends at 4:00 pm. No experience is necessary, and new players will be provided with orientation. If your student wishes to join but is unable to attend this week, please have them talk to Ms. McMorran so she can get an approximate count of members.
