Hello Tiger Families!

As we settle into the season, we’re continuing to reconnect, adjust, and refocus with our shared commitment to our children. As timelines and plans take shape, we’re keeping those core ideas at the center of every decision. We’re grateful for your continued support. Heading into the colder days, we gently remind our students to take extra care on sidewalks as ice can make it slippery. We encourage students to dress warmly as we look forward to continuing to enjoy time outdoors. In addition, students are kindly reminded to use the proper receptacle for garbage disposal. Our neighborhood appreciates our help in maintaining a welcoming environment.

We look forward to meeting with all of you during Parent–Teacher Conferences (November 27 and 28), where we can celebrate progress, discuss goals, and continue supporting your child’s journey together. We also look forward to our winter arts learning celebration. We will be taking a more flexible approach with smaller performances this season as some of our learners have had less rehearsal time than usual. Please save the date for our Winter Arts Evening Showcase on December 11th. You can expect an update from your child’s teacher in the coming weeks if your child is performing. Thank you for your continued partnership. You make a difference in our school and our community.

Warmly,

The David Thompson School Team

Happenings

Student Led Toy Drive

Students in the City of Calgary LEAD Program at David Thompson School are excited to announce a Toy Drive running now until December 3rd. We invite students and caregivers to participate by donating new or gently used toys. Items may be dropped off in the collection bin located in the school office at any time. All donated toys will be shared with the Kids Up Front Foundation, supporting children and families across our community. This initiative is student-led: 15–20 of our Grade 8 and 9 students in the after-school leadership club have taken on the planning, including planning to organize a drop off event taking place during parent conferences.

Their leadership reflects the best of student voice and community service.

  • New, unwrapped toys are preferred
  • Choose age-appropriate toys
  • Please avoid items that are fragile, contain sharp edges, or are weapons

Thank you for helping our student leaders make a meaningful difference in the community.
