Nanton Military Museum Field Trip

Hello Tiger Families!

Happy New Year and welcome back! I hope the winter break offered your family some restful moments and some small, often unexpected, joys that quietly brighten our days. These moments are always around us, and when we take the time to notice them, they can become especially meaningful.

As we return to our school routines, this week has already brought some wonderful sights. We've been lucky with some beautiful lunchtime weather, and it’s been heartening to see students reconnecting, sharing laughs, and simply enjoying time together under the winter sun. These small exchanges often carry more power than we realize, reminding us how simple joys can lift a day.

January tends to start off with great energy, and this year is no different. From the Nanton Military Museum trip, to preparing to visit our 18 feeder schools during our Late French Immersion feeder school tours, to the start of volleyball season, the inspiring ideas from our Principal Advisors and Diversity Club for a culture and connection-focused Wellness Day, to the leadership students planning a Winter Activity Day, there is a lot of energy as we return to our school community. I also want to note that we are getting an updated flagpole, for those who noticed our flag was down. This is a good thing; they’ve replaced the base, as the old flagpole was very crooked, so a new one has been ordered.

In the midst of this busy time, I encourage you to take a moment to pause and notice what is worth celebrating. You might consider sharing a small joy from your day with your child and asking them about a moment that brought them happiness at school or at home. These conversations can help foster gratitude, connection, and wellbeing, which are skills that serve our students well.

We want to recognize our students who have won the yearbook sales competition and the yearbook team who are very excited for everyone to see what they are working on. Congratulations Charley who is winning some DTS merch, Jordan who is winning a gift card and Maddy who wins Principal for a Day. Announcements will be made this Friday for students. Thank you for your continued partnership and support of our school community.

Warmly,

The David Thompson School Team
