How Can I Fall Asleep Faster and Stay Asleep
In Dr. Greg Wells' latest blog, "How Can I Fall Asleep Faster and Stay Asleep?" he delves into the critical role of sleep in maintaining brain health, inspired by a personal family health scare. Addressing common sleep-related queries from readers, Wells offers practical advice for improving sleep quality. He suggests "defending your last hour" by reducing exposure to bright light before bedtime, keeping a nightstand notebook for stress-induced awakenings, and practicing “progressive relaxation" to ease into sleep.
Additionally, he advises cautious use of melatonin and shares a military technique for falling asleep under stress, emphasizing the importance of relaxation and visualization. Wells' insights are aimed at helping readers achieve restful sleep despite life's challenges, underscoring sleep's foundational importance in overall well-being.

Concours at Dr. EP Scarlett
Students have been doing some amazing work on their Projet Art Oratoire (the Art of Speaking in French) in all of the grades. We are excited to present a showcase at E.P. Scarlett on March 19th, 2024. Parents are invited to attend this exciting event where students from David Thompson and Woodman Schools will share their incredible pieces. We would love to see you there and are in need of volunteers! Please reach out to your student’s teacher if you are able to volunteer.

The conference manager will open at 3:30 pm on Thursday, March 14 and will close at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, March 20. To book conferences, please log into your MyCBE account. Once you are in your account, click on "Book and Manage Meeting Times'. Next, click "Book a Conference''.
School conferences are an opportunity to engage in conversation about your child’s learning. Parents/guardians, students and teachers are able to connect and communicate openly about student learning, especially with respect to areas of strength and areas of growth. They help build and sustain respectful relationships that allow both parties to share information and develop strategies to support student success. Prior to conferences, take time with your child(ren) to review PowerSchool for updated grades and D2L for course content and topics to support a focused and informed discussion. If possible, please ensure your child is present for the conferences, as their voice is vital to the steps necessary to their own improvement and success.
After booking your conference, the booking details will appear in your MyCBE account. We highly recommend creating events in the email calendar to keep track of meeting times and links, if applicable.
Author Visit
Thursday, March 21, Author Lisa McManes will visit Grade 7 and Grade 5 classes at our school and will be talking to the students about :
How do you plan a story?
What is the process for getting a book published?
What is the process for designing the cover and back cover? Are you involved in that process?
Short stories (narrative), mainly the importance of adding description (setting, action…)
What a wonderful way to connect the work in school to the broader world!
