System Student Accommodation Plan (SSAP)

The Calgary Board of Education produces the Three-Year System Student Accommodation Plan (SSAP) report every spring. This report helps identify schools facing student accommodation challenges, such as high enrolment pressure, a decline in enrolment, or a change in the demographics of students at the school. The solution to these challenges may affect one or more schools and needs careful consideration. David Thompson School has been identified in the CBE’s 2024-27 SSAP.

In developing the SSAP each year, CBE reviews current enrolment trends, demographic changes, community growth or decline, birth data, and other relevant factors to understand educational opportunities for students based on where they live.

Please use this link to read the full letter from the Director of Planning.

We will share more information about the SSAP at our next school council meeting, scheduled for October 16 at 6:00pm.

Communi’Tea

Our Communi’Tea was well attended this morning. Thank you to leadership students for preparing tea and bannock and helping to serve. Thank you to students, families, and community members who were able to be with us. We look forward to another gathering in the next season.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up

Busses drop off and pick up students in front of the school along Arbour Crescent. In addition, caregivers are reminded that the school parking lot is not to be used for student pick up. Also, Arbour Crescent is very congested because buses drop off in the front of the school.  As such, parents are encouraged to use 5th Street SE, which is easier to access and safer for our students as well. If you arrive before 7:40 am or arrive after 8:00 am, you are welcome to drop off in front. Pay attention to traffic signs.
