Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth

The Mentorship Program, part of the Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) initiative, supports newcomer immigrant and refugee youth in grades 7–12 with settling into Canadian schools and communities. Through resources, information, and personalized guidance, the program helps ease the transition for these students.

The Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth will be offering this mentorship program Thursdays at lunch beginning on December 5.  Use the following links for more information and to print the consent form.  Copies of the consent form will also be available in the office for your convenience.

Drop Off/Pick Up

Welcome winter! We know that this region experiences freeze/thaw cycles that contribute to icy roads from the first snow fall to the last thaw. With bus drop off expected from 7:45 and sometimes delayed due to traffic conditions, Arbour Crescent becomes extremely congested and icy and should not be used for drop off and pick up. Our first concern is always for the well-being of students. We ask that families please use 5th street behind the school (near Acadia School) for this purpose. The back door is unlocked for student entry until 8:05 for the shortest path into the school. With icy road conditions, we would like to remind families to drive cautiously and allow extra time for safe travel. Your safety and the safety of our students and staff are our top priority—thank you for your care and vigilance on the roads.

Child and Youth Well-Being Family and Caregiver Fall/Winter Series

The Calgary Board of Education invites all parents and guardians to join us in a pre-recorded and live online series focusing on child and youth well-being. These sessions will be hosted in partnership with experts from Alberta Health Services and Recovery Alberta and will explore topics such as Peer Pressure, Healthy Relationships, Mental Health for Highly Sensitive Teens, and navigating Parent-Teen relationships. Acting on feedback from participants who joined us during our live online sessions over the past two years, moving forward we invite all guardians and parents to listen to the pre-recorded or live sessions at their convenience.
