New Principal Feedback Form

As we prepare to select the next principal of David Thompson School, your feedback is invaluable in helping us identify the qualities and priorities that matter most to our community. We encourage you to share your thoughts through a brief online survey, which will be available at the link provided below. Your input will play a vital role in shaping the leadership of our school and ensuring we continue to meet the needs of all students. Thank you for taking the time to provide your perspective. The survey will be open until 3:00pm on January 17, 2025.

New Term

Term two begins January 28th. Please connect with your child and check into their term two options so they know where they’re headed. As the first day is a Tuesday, it will be a B day option.

Naming Ceremony

École David Thompson School is honored to host a garden naming ceremony under the guidance of Ninna Piiksii (Elder Dr. Mike Bruised Head) on the morning of January 30th

Students from DTS Advisory groups will be in attendance. They have been actively working all year to lift the stories of the garden space and share them with our community. The naming ceremony will honour the four lodges of the garden space with a name, which will also be carried by four current and retired CBE staff: Martin Poirier (retired – Director of Education Area 6 and Languages) Trista Strickland (Teacher), Chris Keuben (Principal), and Tracy Evans (Assistant Principal). This honour comes out of our work together with Ninna Piiksii and forms an integral part of our commitment to action in meeting the Truth and Reconciliation Commission calls to action. We support students and community in building relationship with space, with Elders and Knowledge Keepers, and with community. Traditional Knowledge Keeper Sandra Manyfeathers reminds us that “the land is happy to hear the Blackfoot language” and we are happy to connect the garden space with the language and support students in knowing the space.

Attendees will have an opportunity to listen to Ninna Piiksii tell four stories, which include his hopes for the space and the people carrying the names..

As a part of this event, we are seeking parent and community volunteers who may support with preparations.

January 21, 2025: Advanced preparations (berry soup and bannock) 3:00-4:30

January 31, 2025: Day-of preparations (Preparation of berry soup and bannock) 7:30 - end
