Dear David Thompson Families,
As the 2025–26 school year draws to a close and summer starts to peek through, I want to take a moment to say thank you. These final weeks have been full of celebration, learning, field trips, and community spirit, and I hope you're feeling that same sense of pride we are. Whether your summer means more time outdoors or simply a slower pace with family, I hope it brings you rest, laughter, and connection.
Thank Yous
To our dedicated staff, thank you for everything you've done to make David Thompson a safe, welcoming, and joyful place to learn. Your creativity and commitment to student success show up in every hallway and classroom, and we see it. Thank you for going above and beyond this year.
To our families, thank you for your partnership. Your trust and encouragement mean the world to us, and we're grateful for the ways you work alongside us in support of your children's growth.
And to our students, you are the reason we do this work. You've shown resilience, curiosity, and heart all year. To our Grade 9s, congratulations! We send you off to high school with pride and confidence. You are ready. We also look forward to welcoming new students joining us from Sundance, Acadia and Sam Livingston, along with families who have moved into the community, and we wish all students from Grades 5 to 8 who are heading to a new school next year all the best.
Farewells and Welcomes
We say goodbye to some staff and welcome new faces to the teaching team this year. We are grateful for the legacy our departing colleagues leave behind. farewell to Mrs. Bains, who will be joining the very fortunate school Dr. George Stanley in the fall, and to Ms. Anderson, who will be taking a general leave of absence to focus on personal matters. We wish her well and look forward to welcoming her back when she's ready. We also say goodbye to Ms. Yoxall and Ms. Singh, who offered extra support to students this year covering temporary leave assignments. We cannot thank you enough for your commitment, you will be greatly missed, and we wish you all the best in your continued work as educators. Once a David Thompson Tiger, always a David Thompson Tiger!
Congratulations
We're excited to welcome some wonderful new teachers to our team next year, current assignments subject to late August adjustments. Mme Kaziev already knows and loves our community, having covered a leave with us this year, and we're so pleased she's joining us on a probationary contract teaching FLA and Social Studies. Feriel Arab trained right here alongside M. Beaudoin this year and impressed us enough that we couldn't let her go, she'll be teaching FLA and Social Studies 7 and 8. Ms. Merritt joins us with a wealth of experience in outdoor education, a perfect fit for a school that values hands on learning, and will teach Social Studies 9, ELA 8 and 9, and Debate. Mr. Gruber brings strong experience from the high school level and will teach ELA and Social Studies 8/9. Mme Lam joins us from Bishop Pinkham as a seasoned Math and Science teacher and will teach French Math and Science 7 and 8. We're also thrilled to welcome Daylan Miller into a temporary assignment. With this kind of talent and heart joining our team, we know our students are in for a great year.
